Now y'all know when I talk about things and I have these topics, you know the first person I'm talking about, I'm talking about me. There's so many things in life when I think about how I self-sabotage and you know where most of it started? Started here.
started here in my mind with thinking that I wasn't good enough, thinking that I don't have enough money. I don't have the resources. I may not have the intelligence. I may not have the skills. I will disqualify myself before anybody else does.
And the crazy thing is, like I said, it all starts in the mind. And so I had to retrain and start new thinking because I will go into a situation and already tell myself that it's not for me because I don't fit all the criteria. Listen, if it's for me, God will qualify me. I know that for a fact.
Jacques LaGrange (02:32.206)
Let me tell you all a little something maybe that you may not know.
There was a time I never taught before and I would always think, well, who's gonna listen to me? Little do my students know when I first got into teaching, I had to go study. Study. I had to go refresh some stuff because I would have never really called myself an expert, but
I knew what I knew, but in here, I had to convince myself that I am the expert. All I had to do was go back and just do a refresher course on some things. You tell me what subject I'm teaching, you tell me who my audience is, then I am going to figure it out. But...
I was so used to self sabotaging because it was just like, you know what the crazy thing about it is what I wouldn't tell my students math wasn't even my best subject. It's just something that I could do in a lot of the things that I do in my day to day. A lot of the things that I had in my major and minor in college had a lot of math in it. So I could do it, but guess what?
because it was for me, God qualified me.
Jacques LaGrange (04:11.38)
He gave me what I needed. You put in the work, I'll qualify you. So there's a lot of things I know in life we go through where we're self sabotaging. We don't think we're good enough for a person. We think that person is better. We think that things will never come around. Things will never happen for me. They're just happening to me. We self sabotage ourselves and take ourselves out of the game.
I see it so many times with my students and players and things like that. They see another team I play. I coached in a very, very well high ranking conference. And depending on who we played sometimes, it's always in their mind because it's that team because they win championships or they may be a powerhouse in their mind.
they're already thinking we lost the game before we actually played it. And that's not true. You can't self-sabotage like that. You don't know. That's why we play the game. We don't go and just automatically forfeit. That's why you play the game. They put on their shorts or their pants, whatever the sport may be, just like you do. But we gotta play either seven innings or we gotta play four quarters.
It doesn't matter. We got to put that time in. Don't self-sabotage your destiny. Your destiny is waiting for you to take one step at a time. taking for it's taking it's waiting on you to believe it's waiting on you to be the person you're supposed to be. Align with what God is telling you and align with your purpose and what you're supposed to do. Let him
Guide you, let him be the lamp to your feet and guide your path. And you'll get this. Stop self-sabotaging yourself. Go for it, take that risk. You never know. Because at worst you can go back to doing zero and doing nothing. Take that chance, take that risk. Don't self-sabotage. But the two greatest things I need you to do, just like I tell you every week.
Jacques LaGrange (06:29.632)
Make sure you live on purpose and make sure you live in purpose. I'll see you guys next week. Peace.
