Giving A Purpose Podcast
Pre- Workout
In this episode of the Giving a Purpose podcast, Jacques LaGrange discusses the common desire for immediate results from God when praying and how this can lead to frustration. He uses the analogy of pre-workout supplements to illustrate how we often want to feel immediate effects from our prayers. Jacques emphasizes the importance of staying committed to the process of faith, trusting in God's timing, and understanding that growth often comes without immediate gratification. He encourages listeners to remain disciplined and focused on their purpose, even when they don't see immediate results.

So come check us out. So today I wanna talk to you guys about something I actually wrote down a while back. And it's about how we treat God sometimes.
and how we want things to come about sometimes. And I always compare to, cause I'm not exempt. Sometimes when I pray for things, I want it to happen right then and right there. I wanna feel it. You know what I'm saying? I want it to take effect. And so I kind of compared it to my pre-workout. So when I go workout, sometimes it's mostly if I'm...
going to lift heavy. But most of the time when I work out, I take my pre-workout. And one thing I do like about my pre-workout, I know it is in my bloodstream. All right, when I take it, and when I'm on my drive, my face starts tingling, arms start tingling, I'm like, oh man, we ready. But it's also a good thing when I get there, it helps me push through my workouts sometimes.
and I'm able to do heavier weights, I'm able to stand there long enough time, it allows the blood to flow, open up things, so it can allow me to do the workout that I want to do. But that's also sometimes how we want God to work. We wanna take whatever potion we wanna make sure, if we're sending up a prayer,

if we're just having that conversation, having that relationship time with God, we want it to start affecting us now. Like we want us to feel it. And like I said, I am not exempt to it. Sometimes, and it's not always I want what I prayed for to happen, but just to have that like, man, am I on the right track? Am I doing what I'm supposed to be doing? Like.
Lord, did you hear me? And you know the Lord hears you. You know he hears you. You know he's always listening. He knows your heart and different things like that. But you, sometimes you just want that confirmation, like that pre-workout to get you through what you asked for. And sometimes when you don't feel it, you're just like, man, I don't know if what I'm doing is working. But you have to stay.
with the course. You have to pray without ceasing. You have to do it sometimes when you don't feel it, when you don't feel like it's the prayer that you did has activated yet, but you have to stay the course. Don't have that pre-workout effect, because it doesn't work like that. God isn't a magic potion. He isn't a magician.
Sometimes we have to stay the course and we just have to believe. Work the process, stay in the process, stay committed, stay disciplined, stay on course. You have to stay focused. We're coming up on 2026. And I promise you, if you're asking God for something, if you're doing the prayer, the pre-workout before what you have planned out is going.
Allow the process to work. Sometimes...

What you'll realize is that you may not feel the tingle, you may not feel the extra boost, but it'll get you through what you're trying to accomplish. It'll get you through those hard times. It'll get you through that bad relationship. It'll get you through that bad job. It'll get you through whatever you're going through. Just trust him, lean on him and allow him to do it the way...
He wants to do it and it aligns with his will, because it's probably so much better than the way we want to. Let him guide you and don't have that pre-workout effect. Listen, I need you guys to do the most important thing that I always ask you to do. Make sure you live on purpose and make sure you live in purpose. I'll see you guys next time. Peace.
